About Artwork: (1898) "Mitchill Prellwitz was celebrated as both a painter and an advocate of women’s art education. A student of William Merritt Chase, she briefly apprenticed at Tiffany Glass Company before pursuing further training in Paris. She returned to New York and established her own studio, later marrying Henry Prellwitz. Like a number of artist couples, they supported each other’s careers and family lives. Some critics considered Mitchill Prellwitz’s versatile production more innovative than that of her husband.
